The purpose of EL Civics is to teach adult immigrant students English while teaching them how to participate in various civic activities. Civic activities can be many things like voting, filling out a government form or going to court. Civic activities can also be "everyday" things like applying for a job, talking to the doctor or a bank teller, having a parent-teacher conference at your child's school or talking to your landlord about your rights as a tenant. At CACE, students get to choose the EL Civics lesson that are most beneficial to them. The teachers will spend class time giving quality lessons and instruction so that our adult immigrant students can understand and participate in various civic activities.
